When I click on the TM View, I get the following message: failed to activate view translation memories.

Question

I'm using the latest version of Studio 2017. When I click on the TM View, I get the following message: failed to activate view translation memories. Then everything freezes and I can't use Studio 2017 anymore! I tried to uninstall and reinstall. I renamed the folder SLD Trados Studio/14.0.0.0. 
 Nothing seems to work. This problem appeared suddenly today. Help! Studio 2017 is completely frozen even when I relaunch and restart my computer...

Hello, SDL has solved this issue for me by renaming the folder 14.0.0.0 that is in the subfolder Local, not Roaming, in otherwords, under 
c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0\ 
not : c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0\ 
 
After you add the extension -old the the Folder name (14.0.0.0-old), your restart Studio and it should work 
 
For me too this happened after I installed the latest update on Tuesday. It must be related.

Yes, thank you. I just spoke to the team who worked on your case and they pointed to the TranslationMemoryRepository.xml that sits in that folder with all the logs. I missed that. Great to note the solution... thank you.

There are three location for SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0 so please can you confirm you renamed this one? 
 
c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0\ 
 
The others would not have the desired affect. If this is what you have done and you still have this problem then I'd recommend you log a support case. For licensing or installation issues that prevent you from working we have a route for all customers to get help. This can be achieved really quickly using this link:

You have two options: 
 
1. Submit a case using a webform 
2. Use live chat to get a licence reset
