How to ignore double quote(") when using Tab-delimited file format in trados?

Dear All

I'm having a difficulty that client has to use Tab-delimited file format(Not bilingual Excel) with their Tab delimited file TXT. But it has bunch of double quote within strings and after importing this txt file into Trados then it cuts its strings by double quote.

This is original source : The "apples" are red and tasty

After importing into Trados : are red and tasty

is it any great idea to solve this problem?

Regards,

Patrick.

  • Hi

I can't reproduce the problem.  Perhaps you can share a snippet of the file with the offending text so we can see exactly what it looks like.  I created a tab delimited file with your example, or what I think your example is, and I can't reproduce the problem.  Here's my file:

"The ""apples"" are red and tasty"	"The ""apples"" are red and tasty"

    apples.zip

  • Hello, Paul
Thank you for your answer. but the source string doesn't have double quote at the front/back. in this case, how could I extract entire string without string cut?
