Error exporting sdlxliffs back to pdfs in Studio 2017

I received a Studio project consisting of sdlxliffs that were created from pdfs with Studio 2017 by my client. After translating these sdlxliffs, I exported them back to pdfs, but these cannot be read. Foxit Reader throws the error 'format error: not a PDF or corrupted.'

How can I find out what goes wrong? And how can I solve it? I'm using build 14.0.4760.1 and Win 7 Pro 64 NL.

Regards,

Heijo

Funny that the Export function isn't greyed out in the Batch menu for an sdlxliff created from a pdf (improvement hint).

    Hi

This is because the export is essentially doing exactly the same as the Save Target, which is essentially what Steve explained.  When you open a PDF in Studio you are really handling a DOCX as the file is converted before it's opened in Studio for translation.  This is why it's sometimes a better idea to open the PDF and immediately close it.  Then you can "tidy up" the DOCX first to remove excessive tagging and unwanted hard breaks for example and translate that instead.

I guess it would't be too hard to add a PDF conversion to the save, but I imagine most customers wouldn't want that because then they won't be able to edit the file either!  PDF is normally a last resort.  If you have the real source files they should always be translated in preference.
