Can't turn on fragment matches

I'm trying out the new term extract plugin.

I've translated my list of terms.

But neither of my two upgraded translation memories or a new translation memory that I created will allow me to turn fragment matches on.

On is greyed out - why? and what can I do to get this working?

  • Hi ,

Ok... I was over thinking it!!

The reason for a minimum requirement is because this is a statistical extraction. So you can get Full Matches almost instantly with a new TM, but for Partial Fragment Matching which is what we really want, the software has to be able to figure out what matches and where. You can start to get something sensible after a 1000, at least this is what we have found in testing, and much better once you get to 5000. So in order to make sure we can deliver something sensible with good results we have set this limit. Anything less and in general it's not worth having at all... and then we'll only see complaints because many users will expect this to be perfect after the first couple of segments translated.

I don't think 1000 is an unreasonable limit though... probably won't take long to get there, but if you are new to the industry you can always bolster your TM with one of the many free TMX resources available online, especially if you work with European languages.
