Project uploading from desktop doesn't work

Hello,

My problem is: I downloaded a SDL Trados 2017 trial a month ago with SDL Trados 2011 already on board. Gave it a try, the license expired, uninstalled. Then, when I wanted to open a project in 2011 (not yet on the Projects list) from the desktop (by double-clicking on it), Windows asked me to set the default program to open the file. It configured to SDL Studio 2011 properly. However, whenever I double-click a project file now it will open Studio, BUT without actually adding the project to the list.

It's a minor problem, but a major annoyance. Any suggestions, other than trying to reinstall the program?

  • Hi Adrian,

Just FYI - All versions of Studio should/can be installed side by side- so no individual installation should actually interfere with another.

I can see that your 2017 trial expired last month, so unless you are going to 'upgrade' you can safely remove this version from the system if you want (repeat trials are not possible).

I have tried searching for your Studio 2011 license, but cannot find any registered under your name or email address so cannot confirm the status.

However, I think simply the process of opening the package could be modified to stop the issue you are having.

Simply- FIRST open Studio 2011-then click on 'open package' (do not try to open Studio by clicking on the package)

and you will then be able to search your computer for the correct package and continue working.

Let me know how you get on.
