Can't activate Fragment recall

I'm using Trados Studio 2017. After aligning 2 files and creating a TM, matching segments are not found while translating. I checked the newly created TM settings and I found that Fragment recall is deactivated, but I can't activate it.

I think this has been going on since I last had to erase folder 14.0.0.0 (BaseSettings; plugincache; UserSettings).

Can anybody help?

Thank you,

Diana

Maybe check a couple of things:

    1. Did you actually update the TM with your aligned pairs?  Open it in the TM Maintenance View and look for a few pairs you know should be in there.
    2. Are you using a 100% match lookup perhaps?  The aligned units are 99% as they receive a penalty by default.

There is a hard coded limit at 1000 TUs, and preferred at 5000 TUs to ensure sensible results.  How many TUs did you align?  Perhaps this problem is linked to the first one if you didn't update as many as you think after aligning?

  • Hi Paul,

    Thank you for your answer.

The newly generated TM is a small one only incluiding the aligned files and has all its segments in it (I ckecked it) and I'm not using a 100% match lookup.

In the meantime I've been trying several things. Apparently the problem is that when I create new projects I include TMs in "all language combinations" (as I have always done) but I should include them in the language pair I'm using. There is something I changed when I recently erased folder 14.0.0.0 (BaseSettings; plugincache; UserSettings) and I don't know what it is.

    Now it's working properly.

    Best regards,

    Diana
  • Hi ,

I'm pleased it's working for you, but what you have said here is not correct. There are no changes here and you do not need to add the TMs to the specific language pairs as well, unless you did this for one of them and then you'll need to do it for the rest.

    Regards
