It sounds like you have the editor set to "Show all formatting and tags".
I would recommend setting it to "Show formatting but hide recognized formatting tags".

Even if you cannot see the tags in the editor, they are present in the file. That is how Trados Studio knows when to make something bold, italic, etc.

There are ways to remove these tags, for example using my Cleanup Tasks plug-in on the app store:

Just be warned that you risk losing formatting in the final file when you remove tags from the source.
