Retrofit stops working

Hello there,

until today, I hardly had any problem with the retrofit feature in Studio 2017. Yet, when I tried to process a simple (though rather large/8000 units) .doc document, it only reached 34% and then stalled completely without an obvious error message. Despite repeated attempts, I always got the same result.

Is there anything I could do?

  • Hi ,

I don't know what the problem is with your files, but if you have a problem like this perhaps try a manual workaround. Take the original source file, and your updated target file and align them manually to create a TM. If this works then add this TM to your existing project and use the "Confirm and translate to next fuzzy match" option to find the segments in your file that are different. Then check and use the updated TM match in your file.

If the alignment fails with your files then perhaps try a different alignment program. You could use WinAlign which is still installed with Studio - see this article:

You could also try something like LFAligner which a free, and very good alignment tool that can handle DOC files.

    Regards
