Switched User Profile not taking effect

Question

Hello, 
 After getting a ridiculous error that completely blocked 2017 SR1 from loading, I did the reset procedure by changing the folder names in a few SDL folders as per the knowledge base. What wasn't explained though was that all my meticulously selected settings would be lost upon doing the reset. I wish I knew that you could export and import user profiles to keep your settings. Now I have to switch computers, and I've tried to export my current profile, then switch to that profile on my other computer, but none of my settings have gone into effect. I've confirmed the simple process instructed here:

 and restarted Studio and restarted my computer, but none of the settings are reflected. 
 Any thoughts?

Which settings are you expecting to see? One of the things with Studio that we really need to address is all the different places your settings are held. There is no "one place" you can back up settings and easily restore them.
