Error message: "Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation" in connection with .ttx-files

Hi

At the moment I am having an issue when trying to create a project in Trados Studio 2017 with a .ttx-file. I work for a customer who mainly sends me this type of file for translation. I have not had any challenges with this file-type before but suddenly yesterday I received the error message: "Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation" when trying to create a project. It looks like this in my Trados Studio 2017 when trying to open a file:

When I click 'OK' Trados closes the window and returns to the 'Welcome-window'.

Luckily, the customer also sends me the file as an .xlsx-file so I am able to translate the requested file anyway. It just frustrates me that I do not know how to solve this issue. I have tried to 'repair' Studio 2017 and I have also been going through the 'File Types' in 'Options' in order to remove some check marks in relation to change the order of the versions of Excel but without any luck.

Can you help me?

Best regards

  • Hi ,

This could be tricky to fix without seeing the file. Can you share it? You can email pfilkin@sdl.com if you can.

Maybe wirth checking to see if the file was properly segmented before you used it in Studio. The easiest way to check this is to open it in Studio as a single file project. When you do this are both languages clearly defined or does the target language say "optional"?

  • Hi Paul

Thank you for your swift reply.

I believe that the file was properly segmented as I was able to create a single file project (It did not request any languages as it just opened automatically). After creating the project the translatable file opened as usual but then the error message appeared (As stated in connection with the screen shot above).
As requested I will send the file to your e-mail-address as well as the error message I received in connection with the file.
