separating physically merged files to avoid retranslation?

Question

I am a novice using 2017. I physically merged files and translated it, only to find that I have to deliver the translation separately for each merged files. I looked through the forums and there does not seem to be a way to unmerge them somehow... If anyone know how to do this, or know any other steps I can follow so that I do not have to translate again, can you please let me know? Strangely, though I tried creating a TM from the merged project and using it in individual-file projects, but, unexpectly, I did not see all matches. Please help. Thank you.

If the files you merged were sdlxliff files then there is no way to do this I'm afraid. It's better, for the time being, to not merge the files when you create your project but rather use the virtual merge as you work. This way you always have the separate sdlxliff files available to you.
