error message

Hi, can anyone tell me why I keep getting this message when trying to open the Target File in Word? Initially a PDF file.

Thanks for your help !

  • Hi ,

I think there are two things that may help here.

The first relates to your version of Microsoft Office. If you have an older version of Office it may be that asking someone with a recent version to open the file, resave it and give it back to you will resolve the problem. I can do this for you if you are ok to share it with me? email it to pfilkin@sdl.com

The other thing, if the first is not the problem, would be try the following:

    1. Open the PDF in Studio as a single file document translation
    2. Immediately close the file.
    3. You'll find a Word file in the same folder as the PDF
    4. Tidy up the Word file (maybe TransTools or something like that) and translate the Word file instead of the PDF
    5. Use your TM to pre-translate the file and save the target

If the problem is the first one then the second is probably not going to help.

    Regards

  • Hi

Thanks for sending me the files.  I solved it with this:

Then just in case you have the first problem I mentioned I opened the target in Word 2016, then resaved it with another name.  Let me know if you can open it.

    Regards

    Paul
