Cannot save target: "Internal error: Multiple tags with the same ID Italic have different start tag properties"

Dear all,

This error keeps popping up whenever I try to italicise a word in the editor view of Trados 2017 and then save the file. The words in question are not italicised in the source document. The source document is a regular docx and has nothing to do with Worldserver nor did it come in a package. It was all working fine this morning and I could italicise without problems, but following an update this afternoon it has all gone awry. Is there anyway to resolve this?

Thank you

  • And this is what makes me curious here. Usually, formatting tags are - if they appear as a closed pair and do not overcross other tags - not problematic. And usually Studio will not allow to insert overcrossing tag pairs... So there must be something in the background, why a simple formatting breaks the process.
For the time being, until a permanent solution has been found, simply mark the corresponding text part with special symbols, like q (for example: @@italic here@@) or whatever sign might fit your purpose. It is very easy to replace this places afterwards in Word.
Select "Use wildcards" in this search.
In the search for field enter:
    \@\@(*)\@\@
    In the replace field enter
    \1
and select from formatting the "Italic" formatting for characters.
This way all such text pieces in Word should be formated as desired with few simple clicks
