Cannot save target: "Internal error: Multiple tags with the same ID Italic have different start tag properties"

Dear all,

This error keeps popping up whenever I try to italicise a word in the editor view of Trados 2017 and then save the file. The words in question are not italicised in the source document. The source document is a regular docx and has nothing to do with Worldserver nor did it come in a package. It was all working fine this morning and I could italicise without problems, but following an update this afternoon it has all gone awry. Is there anyway to resolve this?

Thank you

  • Hello Bruce Campbell,

Paul Filkin has already posted some possible solutions to the problem (see his reply to Mayra Franke, 16 Nov 2017 10:16 PM (and to other users) --

    1. Open the source file as a new project and pretranslate from your TM
    2. Remove all the tags you added using QuickInsert and put them back using the current version
    3. Roll back to the version pre CU8, complete your open projects and then upgrade

It did not work for me though (possibly because my huge project had many pre-translated, blocked segments with italics).
But it did work for some others -- it may work for you as well :)

  • Thank you for the advice Elisabeth,

Luckily I was following this thread, so I knew the options that Paul listed :-)

But I have a client with a version of Studio 2017 that is not fully up-to-date, so my only option is option 3 since I have to translate sdlxliff files prepared by the client.

My previous post was just a request that Paul post here when the problem has been solved, so that I -- and anyone else facing the same problem with files or packages from their clients -- can turn on automatic updates again. (I asked the client to update, but sometimes climate change is faster than clients ;-)

    Best regards,
    Bruce Campbell
