I am translating and suddenly the text is being replaced as I type. I see the "OVR" at the bottom. How in the world do I switch it back to insert mode? I'm pressing the insert key and nothing is happening

I have this issue too. It's not me accidentally hitting the insert button while typing (it's too far off to the right), which I am forever pressing after Trados switches to overwrite mode for the umpteenth time during the translation process. This seems to happen when I copy and paste text into the active target TU box. I don't see the point of this change, plus it slows down productivity and is frustrating to say the least. It would be great if this feature could somehow be removed or deactivated in Trados.
I had this issue too: OVR mode got stuck. I finally solved it by remapping the Insert key to do something else (move the mouse pointer to the top of the screen) with AutoHotkey.
Thanks Nora, that worked for me too!
Wonderful! I thought I'd leave the link to the AutoHotkey forum thread about the script I use here, in case it helps others. Note that you can repurpose the Insert key to do anything else, and you can even simply disable it so you will never turn Overwrite accidentally again. The script in the thread noted here causes the mouse pointer to move to the top of the screen when the Insert key is pressed.
I had the same problem, and simply pressing the "insert" key was not an option, as I use a laptop keyboard that does not include an "insert" key. My solution: use the virtual keyboard provided with Windows. For Windows 10, press Win+Ctrl+O to open the virtual keyboard, and use the "insert" button there.
Does a laptop without the Insert key exist on this earth? I've never seen one with Windows OS, so it makes me simply curious.

I use a Spanish keyboard, and I imagine every country/language is slightly different.
Well, I use Germany keyboard to type Polish, but the language of the keyboard should not affect the Fn-keys on a laptop keyboard. Due to the limited space many keys of a laptop keyboard do have a double function. And the insert key is one of these, very often located together with the delete key and activated by pressing the Fn key and the delete key. Please note, that Fn might be a different key, it is a function key to switch between functions of double-assigned keys. This should be present on any laptop for Windows. Apple might be very different here, so I cannot tell how it behaves there.

This is a unique issue within Studio. Using the insert key in Word doesn't do anything in my case because I have given the key a search function within my Logitech kb settings. But this override is ignored within Studio. The solution quoted from proz.com works for me.
It is the most annoying and useless key I can think of and I can't see any use for it, not in Studio either.
