After updating Windows 10: Exception from HRESULT:0x80010001 (RPC_E_CALL_REJECTED)

Question

Hi there, 
 yesterday, all was working fine but, after updating Windows 10 this morning, I get a "Exception from HRESULT:0x80010001 (RPC_E_CALL_REJECTED)" whenever I try to confirm a segment. 
 Yet, there is another confusing thing: Eventually, I continued to translate the relevant document outside of Trados, but when I returned to Trados tonight, I was able to confirm the segments. Thinking that it was simply a temporary issue, I then uploaded a new document - and got the same error message. 
 Is there a way to remedy the issue?

Hi Stefanie, 
 
I think the first thing to try here would be a Studio reset as it sounds like the W10 update may have corrupted some of the settings- 
 
 gateway.sdl.com/.../communityknowledge 
 
If this fails- then try a Studio repair 
 
 gateway.sdl.com/.../communityknowledge 
 
Using one of the above- normally clears such issues.

Hi Stefanie Waldtmann , Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Studio? If not, I would try it as it may smooth out whatever was changed by the Windows Update. It also might be worth re-running Windows Update to see if maybe it will reinstall correctly, in case the update process was somehow interrupted and corrupted... Also, I ran a Google search on this error and the only one that seemed to give a solution that was specifically applicable to Windows rather than another piece of 3rd part software was here: wikifixes.com/.../ It gives an explanation of the 0x80010001 error and offers the trial version of a downloadable tool to scan for errors in your registry and fix them. It looks pretty genuine... I have no idea if that will fix your problem but reading the content may help someone looking at this thread to think of another solution to your problem. Phew, that's good news. In that case, I'd recommend that you run a Windows Repair on Microsoft Office which should stop the Word pop-up occurring. 
 
So that's... Control Panel > Programs > Programs and features > Change > 'Quick Repair' or 'Online Repair' 
 
The quick repair is literally just that and doesn't involve the internet. The online repair goes deeper and takes longer. 
 
One of those should do the trick.
