After updating Windows 10: Exception from HRESULT:0x80010001 (RPC_E_CALL_REJECTED)

Hi there,

yesterday, all was working fine but, after updating Windows 10 this morning, I get a "Exception from HRESULT:0x80010001 (RPC_E_CALL_REJECTED)" whenever I try to confirm a segment.

Yet, there is another confusing thing: Eventually, I continued to translate the relevant document outside of Trados, but when I returned to Trados tonight, I was able to confirm the segments. Thinking that it was simply a temporary issue, I then uploaded a new document - and got the same error message.

Is there a way to remedy the issue?

Kind regards,

Stefanie

  • Hi ,

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Studio? If not, I would try it as it may smooth out whatever was changed by the Windows Update.

It also might be worth re-running Windows Update to see if maybe it will reinstall correctly, in case the update process was somehow interrupted and corrupted...

Also, I ran a Google search on this error and the only one that seemed to give a solution that was specifically applicable to Windows rather than another piece of 3rd part software was here:

    wikifixes.com/.../

It gives an explanation of the 0x80010001 error and offers the trial version of a downloadable tool to scan for errors in your registry and fix them. It looks pretty genuine...

I have no idea if that will fix your problem but reading the content may help someone looking at this thread to think of another solution to your problem.

    All the best

  • Dear Alison,

thank you so much for your explicit advice. I have already reinstalled Studio, yet the problem remains.

For a couple of hours, I was able to confirm the segments after saving the target file first. For some reason, this is no longer possible and the error message has reappeared. Thankfully, the unconfirmed segments are still exported so that, at least, I can finish my current translation.

The wikifixes solution seemed to be a good alternative but unfortunately contains malware.

I guess the whole issue results from updating Studio and Windows at the same time, but I am at a loss with the whole situation.

    Thanks again
    Stefanie
  • Hi Stefanie,

I'm sorry none of my suggestions were solutions. Is it possible that your antivirus perceived the download as malware because of its behaviour, but that it wasn't? If so you probably need to add it to your antivirus exceptions list but if you're in any way suspicious of it, then of course don't.

Can I suggest that instead you download CCleaner here:

    CCleaner

Click on the green 'Download latest version' button, not on any other enticingly-coloured download button (adverts for other software).
Once downloaded, you can use this tool to clean up your registry after all the changes that have gone on with the last 2 days' updates.

Whether you do the above or not, you can get help quickly from SDL here:

This is the service specifically dedicated to installation and/or licensing issues that are preventing you from working.

Fill in the form and submit it. Make sure your email address is correct or nobody will be able to contact you.

So sorry you're having these problems!

    All the best,
    Ali
