Error message "Invoke or BeginInvoke cannot be called on a control until the window handle has been created."

Question

Currently using Windows 10. SDL Trados Studio 2017.

The following error message pops up before I open SDL.
Error message "Invoke or BeginInvoke cannot be called on a control until the window handle has been created."
The only way to close dialog box and open program is after hitting OK.

The error message first popped up after a previous sdlxliff file was getting the error message " cannot save target:
"Internal error: Multiple tags with the same ID Italic have different start tag properties"
Apparently due to conflicts between file created in different SDL versions (2015 and 217).

I am currently translating a different project (created in SDL 2017) and the error "Invoke or BeginInvoke etc" above continues.

Can someone help with a simple and hopefully quick fix ?

Hi Elisabeth Berg ,

Rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio:

c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0

So the path would become this:

c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0_old

If you can't find this folder then you need to unhide your hidden files/folders:

www.howtogeek.com/.../

To be honest Elisabeth it's really tricky to identify the real cause of a problem like this and the solution I provided is a useful one to remember because it's just a reset of your studio settings. This can fix a multitude of problems, problems I'm certainly not clever enough to be able to fix otherwise! 
 
The good news is that since we released the latest update to Studio 2017 we're collecting many error messages automatically and hopefully this will allow us to find real solutions to these problems in a more efficient way.
