How do I change Ctrl+R (generating preview) shortcut ?

In Studio 2017, Options >Keyboard Shortcut
Ctrl+Alt+Shift+W is a shortcut for Close All.
Ctrl+R is for Internal Refresh.

However, as I see it in my computer, Ctrl+R is the shortcut for Generating Preview (that is not generating preview at all)
It is annoying when I mistakenly press Ctrl+R (generating preview)  instead of Ctrl+T (applying translation).

How do I change (or eliminate) the Ctrl-R shortcut for generating preview ?

The table in Options >Keyboard Shortcut does not display any action  "Preview" so that I can change it.

  • Hi, Elizabeth.

    • File > Options and select "Keyboard shortcuts". This will display the list with all shortcuts.
...> [view name] to display the list with shortcuts from a specific view.
    • Locate the row containing the action for which you want to create or edit the shortcut.
    • Click the cell in the Shortcut column (where the current keyboard shortcut is displayed, if one exists).
    • Press the key, or combination of keys, that you want to use for the shortcut. The key combination appears in the Shortcut column. (Note: Shift+F10 and Ctrl+Shift+F10 are reserved for internal use and cannot be assigned as shortcut keys).
    • Click outside the row you just edited. Studio checks whether the new shortcut is already in use. If the shortcut is already in use, the entire row is highlighted in red and you must remove or edit the shortcut.
    • Click OK to save the shortcut and close the Options dialog box.

    Best.

  • Hello Guilherme,

Thank you for your reply and explanation.

The point is that in SDL Trados Studio 2017, Options >Keyboard Shortcut>All Shortcuts

Ctrl+R is the shortcut for Internal Refresh (not for Generating Preview).

However, when I press Ctrl+R what displays is Generating Preview (which preview is not generated at all)

I want to disable Ctrl+R Generating Preview.

Since there was NOT originally a shortcut (the field was blank) for Preview, I assigned a shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+P) for Preview.

The assigned shortcut does not perform the action "Preview" and does not replace Ctrl+R Generating Preview.

In other words, I created a shortcut for Preview that does not preview and I'm still not able to disable Ctrl+R (Generating Preview).

  • You need to redefine the "Internal Refresh", I believe... because according to its infotip text it's supposedly just totally-misledadingly named Preview:

  • Thank you Evzen Polenka!
To the point - that totally worked :)
