Stduio 2017 Error: Index was outside the bounds of the array

Hello,

I have been using Studio 2017 for a couple of months now and it was working fine until one day it stopped opening and came up with the message "Error: Index was outside the bounds of the array" and I can't open it at all. What do I do to resolve this please? Many thanks for your responses.

  • I have the same issue when launching Studio. It often gives me the error message, but trying again soon afterwards usually results in Studio opening smoothly. Similarly, Studio often fails to open in a full window and remains minimised in the Windows taskbar (which only has to be clicked). It seems to me that the Studio startup routine has been a little flaky for several months. I recently bought a new PC and even with a new installation, the same thing is still happening.
I should perhaps point out that while the installation is pretty new, I have changed several options to set up Studio the way I want it again. It seems to me that while a reset might help by restoring everything to default status, the real task (assuming that restoring the defaults remedies the problem) is to discover which non-default setting is causing a problem and find a way to resolve the problem - otherwise there is a very good chance that the same issues will reoccur as soon as the user selects the same options.
TBH, I don't think that suggesting that a program's defaults are restored is really very helpful - it falls into a similar category as "try reinstalling the software" - everyone knows that the possibility exists and might resolve the issue, but wants to avoid that approach as it involves a fair amount of time and if the cause of the issue hasn't been found...
