I'm not a very advanced user of Trados Studio 2014. I always send a Trados generated Word document to my proofreader and he returns the corrected file. How can I transfer his changes and save them in my TM? Until now I've been aligning the two documents, but as a result my TM is a mess... Thanks for your help!

I think the first thing to do, would be to ensure you are using and utilising TRACK CHANGES in Word
Once your colleague has made the changes Using TRACK CHANGES and you upload the document back in to Studio-these changes will be highlighted in Yellow and you can either accept the changes or reject them. You can also filter on segments with 'tracked changes' only.

Once you have the cleaned files back and saved any changes, you can now add this to your TM's
The next issue here (and I would probably tackle this before any further translations take place) is to clean up your TM-
Using a TM that contains a lot of 'mess' is probably not worth having and is going to be counter productive as you have already realised.
Therefore I would suggest spending some (essential) time cleaning the TM

Which "upload" process exactly do your refer to here?
The RetroFit feature is available only since Studio 2015. And the Natalia's process uses only clean target Word files, not any specially-formatted ones (like the Bilingual Word for External Review).
Of course, Natalia would be better off if she gets familiar with proper Studio worflows... People get themselves to trouble by not knowing how to use their tools properly... :-\
