I currently have Trados and Multiterm 2017 installed. Do I need to remove it to install 2017 SR-1 or can I just install over it? Do I need to deactivate my license beforehand? Is the process the same for Multiterm? Thanks.

You should be able to simply install over top of 2017. No need to deactivate licenses.
