Updating from 2015 to 2017: TMs became 4-5 times bigger

Question

Hi. 
 I updated to 2017, and I was asked to update my TMs. All seemed to be OK. 
 But size of the file (the main one) passed from 400MB to 1.6 GB!!! 
 Why? How can I downsize the file?

Hi Giandomenico Lorenzo Ventura , 
 
When you upgraded your TM you prepared it for UpLift and this goes through a process of extracting fragments from your source and target segments and then aligning them, finally adding them to your TM for things like: 
 
- fragment matching 
- fuzzy match repair 
 
This is a lot of additional information and the result is your TM balloons in size.
