Use of bilingual Excel file with comments in Studio 2017

Question

Hi! 
 I have a number of Excel files, each with 2 colums: One with the source language (one column, Japanese), one with English translation (one column)(just for reference as the target is French). 
 I would like to have in studio the source language plus, as a comment, the English language. It is sometimes useful to have a look at the English translation although it is not the original language and is not a confirmed translation. 
 Based on the propeties described when you click Common, it seemed to me that it is possible. but I have no success to do this up to now wothout understanding why because I strictly followed the procedure described in Help and in the specific video available. 
 Thanks for any help if you could use this Studio 2017 feature.

 This should simply work out of the box with the right settings 
 Simply select the Bilingual Excel (FILE/OPTIONS/FILE TYPES) option in the project settings when creating the project as follows 
 
 This should then work. 
 If not, are you able to share the file (swhale@sdl.com)?

Hi Francis Lecroisey , 
 
Make sure that you are using the correct filetype to open this. The Bilingual Excel filetype is not active by default so you may be opening the file with the standard monolingual filetype. So make sure it's ticked, and that it appears above the monolingual filetype in your list of filetypes. 
 
If you use project templates then make sure you apply this change in the templates you are using. 
 
Your problem has to be something like that...
