  • Hi ,

First of all can you confirm you have installed both of these versions of our applications (I can see you have the correct version of Studio so just confirm Multiterm please):

    SDL Trados Studio 2017 SR1 - 14.1.6413.8
    SDL MultiTerm 2017 SR1 - 14.1.2471.5

If you don't have this version of MultiTerm please update that and test again.

Next, does this happen with any termbase or just the one you are using now? If it's just this one can you try moving the termbase to a different location, locally on your desktop perhaps, and see if the problem still occurs?

Can you also try resetting the View when you have a file open in the Studio Editor with this termbase attached? So View -> Reset Window Layout.

If none of that helps can you try a reset. Rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0

So the path would become this:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0_old

If you can't find this folder then you need to unhide your hidden files/folders:

    www.howtogeek.com/.../

See if any of this helps you make a little progress. If not we can try something else.

  • Dear Paul,

thanks a lot for your reply.

I checked yesterday already that I had the latest version of both Studio and Multiterm installed.

I then tried to restart Studio 2017, opened the project both in Studio 2015 and 2017 and still got the same error, tried to create a new project with the same termbase, didn't work.

I ended up deleting the project, termbase and memory and recreating them all (all the three in the same folders and under the same name, i. e. with the same path, as previously). This way I finally managed to solve the problem (but lost about 90 minutes, not helpful).

I seem to have quite a lot of problems and bugs with the new Multiterm, unfortunately (installed both Studio 2017 and Multiterm 2017 for about two weeks ago).

It's especially the Termbase Viewer's Default layout that's causing problems. It has already happened a few times that the term is not displayed if this layout is chosen and I have to switch to another layout to actually be able to browse through the terms or edit them. Another bug: when adding new terms with the default layout on, I keep getting messages about a duplicate in my termbase, event though there clearly is none. It seems to concern similar terms, i. e. "car seat" and "car equipment" - this has never happened with the other layouts or with MultiTerm 2015. If I then decide to merge the terms, the whole Termbase Viewer crashes and I have to restart the Studio. Do you have any idea why this could be happening?

Thanks a lot for your help
