The file I created yesterday won't open

Hello Trados Savants,

Yesterday I started my first translation on TRADOS and today am not able to open the file.
Here's the error message:
Unexpected error when detecting file type 'C:\Users\blah-blah-blah\FileName.sdlxliff':  for file access to the path is denied 'C:\Users\blah-blah-blah\FileName.sdlxliff'
What a disgrace! Would appreciate any tip or counsel on how I could open the long-suffering file.

  • Hello

Unfortunately this error message would seem to suggest the file itself is damaged.

This can happen with overzealous AV programs or even CCleaner if the machine has been left on over night or the machine shut down before the saving process is complete.

If you have the original (doc?) file, please try double clicking on it to see if it opens.

If the file opens, then please create a new project in Studio -you will then be able to run the file through your existing translation memory.

Should however the problem still persist (file issue) and you cannot substitute the damaged file with untranslated source documents, I think the only remaining option would be to request a new file from the client.
