Can Studio be used to proof-read PowerPoint files and track changes?

Hello

I have 1,000 PPT screens to proof-read and the customer wants to have a trace of all changes made.

Is it possible to use Studio for this, and if so how?

TIA for your help

  • Hi ,

I'm going to say yes, but how it's done all depends on what your client is prepared to accept given that Powerpoint itself does not support a track changes feature like Word for example. So here's a couple of options for you.

    Option #1
Open the Powerpoint file in Studio, use two flavours of the same language perhaps (US and GB English for example). Copy source to target and then edit the "translation" and save the target file. This gives you another powerpoint, this time the edited version. Use the Merge and Compare feature in Powerpoint to identify the changes:

    Option #2
Open the Powerpoint file in Studio, use two flavours of the same language perhaps (US and GB English for example). Copy source to target. Now switch on Track Changes in Studio and edit the "translation". Once done use the Export for External Review feature to provide your client with a Word file that contains the original and the edited text with Track Changes.

    Option #3
Open the Powerpoint file in Studio, use two flavours of the same language perhaps (US and GB English for example). Copy source to target. Now switch on Track Changes in Studio and edit the "translation". Next get your client to purchase a copy of Studio and they can review your work in Studio ;-)

Maybe some other ways but I guess one of these seems the most logical... to me anyway.

    Regards

  • Thanks Paul, #1 seems to be the best option.

However I have another problem: when I try to add the PPTX file I get a message saying the file type PPTX is not found in the project parameters, even though it is, I've checked.
Any ideas why I get this error message?
    Bye
