.FTL file type

Question

We have a new file that we cannot seem to set up a file type for in SDL Trados 2017. The extension of the file is .ftl. Anyone out there know how to handle this? We can upload file for anyone who can help.

Hi Bobby Lahiere , did you try adding *.ftl to the wildcard dialogue on the html filetype? That does a reasonable job although doesn't handle all the codes. So you could probably create a custom XML filetype for it using the legacy XML filter... not sure how successful that will be but seems worth a try.

As mentioned by Paul, adding the *.ftl to HTML5 file type is basically enough... Some of the untranslatable code is still extracted, but that can be easily handled by locking it manually. Alternatively you can check out Jesse's Cleanup Tasks plugin. 
I tried to lock the ${foobar} variables using the server-side scripts embedded content processor, but had no luck... this option is basically undocumented :(, so it's hard to say why it didn't work (is it parsing some particular elements/patterns only, like the <script> element processing?) 
IMO creating the custom XML file type would be too much hassle, as it would mean defining (almost) all HTML tags...
