Question

Internal error: Multiple tags with the same ID 'Bold' have different start tag properties 
 When received, it is IMPOSSIBLE to save the file and all work is consequently lost. 
 This atrocious bug has been addressed elsewhere, but I am opening up another thread because - unconscionably - this bug has NOT been addressed by SDL. Am I supposed to read through 14 pages of non-helpful responses to find, at the end, that the issue remains unresolved? Many of us have lost hours of time and inconvenienced our clients. This is unacceptable!

Work is NOT lost. What you need to do is to remove BOLD and/or ITALIC added, where there was NO bold or italic in the source or NOT using the bold or italic from the source. This issue occurs with projects started in CU7 and continued in CU8. 
Other solution is simply to uninstall CU8 from the control panel of your machine. AFAIR all this steps have been described somewhere here in the forum. 
The issue will be resolved with the next CU. 
OTOH you are not supposed to add any formatting to your text...

We have not released an update since this bug was found. There is one in the works and will be released soon. In the meantime the solution is based on these options: 
 
1. Open the source file as a new project and pretranslate from your TM 
2. Remove all the tags you added using QuickInsert and put them back using the current version 
3. Roll back to the version pre CU8, complete your open projects and then upgrade 
 
Three options and hopefully at least one of them will work for you until we release a fix.
