Studio 2017 and connecting to legacy server-based memories

Question

I am in despair. I upgraded to Studio 2017 but need 2014 to work with a client that has not upgraded. When I installed 2014 and 2017 on a new computer, I could not reactivate the licence for 2104. And I cannot even purchase a licence for 2014 and solve the problem that way! 
 I need to connect to 2104 (or earlier) server-based databases and I have no permissions on the client's server so I cannot upgrade their memories. So, is there any way to connect to legacy memories through 2017? 
 Any help will be most gratefully received.

If your task is to connect to a server based TM and do some maintenance of some sort then there is no way to facilitate this. 2014 isn't even supported anymore. The problem is incompatibility between versions. You can't do anything unless you use Studio 2014, and your client can't do anything unless they upgrade to a supported version of GroupShare. 
 
If they won't upgrade then the solution is probably for them to create a Package instead and send you a Project TM. Then you can work perfectly well and they will be able to upgrade their TM using the return package you send back.
