Adding external files to translation memory

Question

Hi, 
 
 I am working on a translation and have some excel documents that contain useful translated text that I would like to add to my TM. When trying to import them however, I realized that I cannot import a file in excel format to the TM. How could I solve this problem and get the text that I need imported into my TM?

Hi Sophie, 
 
if your source and target is in different columns of the same Excel file you can use a filetype called Bilingual Excel, otherwise it is necessary to use the alignment tool.

Go to Project Settings, select Bilingual Excel and deselect the other Excel filetypes. 
 
 Define your source and target column here 
 
 then add your bilingual excel file to the project. 
 Finally You can use the resulting .sdlxliff file to update your TM
