I have attached 2 test files that show problems when I merge segments. The problem does not show up until I save the target file and try to open it in Word. Word gives me an error message saying that there is an error in the xml.
This occurred in a long file I was translating and after I finished the translation it took 5 hours before I was finally able to create a target file that would open in Word. (I had to start over from scratch and slowly try to figure out which segments were causing the problem.)
I took the original Word file and isolated several segments that had been causing problems. I eliminated everything else and saved the "interesting" pieces as "test file 1" and "test file 2" below. The original Word file came from a client so I am not sure how it was created.
Test file 1: test file 1.docx
Test file 1 has a strange "<group name ...>" tag in segment 2 that I have never seen before. Merging the first two segments leads to a target file that cannot be opened.
Test file 2: test file 2.docx
Test file 2 has a "<shape name ...>" tag in segment 2. Merging the first two segments leads to a target file that cannot be opened.
Note that when I open each of these test files in Word and then do a "File->Inspect Document", Word informs me there is "Custom XML Data" in the file.
Is this a Studio bug (in which case the problem could pop up somewhere again), or was the original Word file damaged in some way?
