Restricted editing target document

Hi! When I create a target file, it seems to be protected from certain type of corrections. In particular, the source file is a presentation in Handouts mode. It opens and translates very well in Studio2017, however, when the target file is created, an issue occurs: page layout (shapes, sizes, positions) are locked for any editing (with Disable the Restricted editing option not available in Word), whilst the text is not. Target text length is often too big to fit the shapes, so the only workaround to make the resulting presentation look decent is either to shorten the translation (like with subtitles) or to chage font size (sometimes down to almost illegible). I am sure this is not the way job is done properly, I must be unaware of the right way, so I would like to ask for advice, please.

Yes, it is the same way in the source file

    It is MS Word 2010

It is a bit tricky with the original source file: it was in PDF. For some reason the editable PDF would not open for translation in the Project folder (have seen the videos and have read the guidelines on opening PDFs, downloaded the OCR from SDL App Store, etc. with no effect). Eventually had to create one more project and embed the automatically generated Word files (from the previous project) into it. This was the only workaround to get the PDFs to open.

I checked all the Word filetypes in the relevant settings window, but to judge by the thumbnail image (blue-and-white square) the system perceives it as MS Word 2007-2016.

    Thanks!
