Not allowed to choose location when opening a package

I'm trying to open a package sent by one of my clients, and Studio 2017 does not give me the chance of choosing my preferred location (please see screenshot below). This doesn't happen with all my packages, only with some, specially when their names are similar to those of packages I've opened before (Studio decides to open the new package in the same locations as the previous ones). How can I tell Studio to open the new package where I want?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

  • Hi Claudia Franco (ClaudiaFranco),

How are you currently saving the PPX packages when you receive them?

I would suggest first creating a new folder in your preferred destination....

then right clicking the received package and selecting SAVE AS- you are then free to select the destination folder.

Then from Studio - click open package and direct Studio to where you saved the PPX.

From here on in- Studio will always save to the same destination folder where you saved the PPX and wont be opening the wrong folders.

Don't simply double click the package- that opens Studio automatically, but which removes the choice of destination.

  • Hi Steve,

Thanks a lot for your reply!

I don't receive these packages via e-mail, I download them from Dropbox instead. Anyway, I've downloaded the package again to an independent folder, and instead of double-clicking on the package, I've tried opening it from Studio, as you said, but to no avail. I keep having the same issue.

This translation is related to some others I've translated in the past, and so the package seems to be somehow connected with the packages that contained those previous translations. Studio keeps making me open this new package in the same location as those previous translations. The new files get mixed up in the same folder with the files I've already translated in the past.

Any other ideas? Thanks in advance!

    Kind Regards,

    Claudia
