Localisation (or not) of isolated numbers depending on context

Hello dear Trados Studio users and mavens!

I have a question regarding number localisation depending on context, here the scenario:

In our documents to be translated we have segments consisting only of a localisable number like "1.2", 3.5" etc.

  1. Depending on where they occur, they represent the value of a measurement unit in a table and thus need to be localised to "1,2", "3,5" etc. in the target language.
  2. In other cases they are used for numbering or version numbers and have to stay as in the source.

Studio correctly recognizes such numbers as placeables, and when I enter such a translation unit (TU) into the TM, all following segments will adopt the chosen pattern, e.g. with a comma. I have tried to add a second TU with the other option, e.g. the dot, into the TM but this seems impossible, my guess being this is because the TU only consists of a placeable.

Here now my question: is there a way to make Studio use one or the other localisation option depending on context, i.e. the surrounding segments, like it is able to pick one or the other of several translations for the same source depending on context?

Thanks a ton in advance for any help or insights!

Greetings from Brussels,
Raphaël
