In one of your blogs (https://multifarious.filkin.com/2016/11/21/bridging-the-divide-merging-segments/) you explain what happens behind the scenes when merging segments, but I would need to understand the exact opposite. What happens when splitting segments in Editor view.

Not only in the sdlxliff file but also what does that mean for target files (xliff, xml, aso.). What impact does it have on them, when they get reverted back to original format after translation in Studio is done, if any. (e.g. in your blog you said that for xml merged segments get cleared and copied to the first segment part.

I ask because I have an idea for a splitting tool for already existing pre-segmented ttx, mqxliff, sdlxliff files aso. that we get from clients for translation in Studio. Quite often this segmentation is crap and/or erroneous or would simply need some amendment to get better results (e.g. for lists of ingredient within a normal text)
