Is it possible to add new content to the source document after you started translating it?

Many times, after I've started translating a document, there are changes or updates to the source document that I need to insert in the source document. Is it possible to modify the source document in the Studio Editor and continue your translation? I only can think of using 'split segments' for accomplishing this. Isn't there an easier way? I use Studio 2017.

Thanks,

  • Hi ,

If the modifications are minor text changes then you can edit the source. But If they are structural, so you're adding lines or paragraphs then you cannot. There are two ways to handle this:

    1. If you have the Professional version of Studio you would use Perfect Match and compare the new source file to the previously translated SDLXLIFF

    2. If you have the Freelance version then just create a new project, or add the new version to your existing project with a new name, and pretransate the file from your Translation Memory.
