How to lock out in XLF

Question

Hello, 
 
 We have <note> in one of our customers' XLF file. they're not included in the "source" / "target" segments, still Studio shows them as translatable units. 
 See my screenshots below:

I tried to customize the settings but in vain:

These segments are still visible in the Editor. 
 
 Can someone help me in how to lock them out ?

Problem solved... just a misunderstanding over what information was being brought into Studio. 
 
A good test for anyone else having issues like this is to pseudotranslate the file using $ symbols, Then save target and inspect the file. That will tell you beyond all doubt what text was actually being extracted for translation as the $ symbols stick out like a sore thumb! A little known but very useful feature when working with filetypes and trying to understand what was actually extracted for translation and what was not.

Are you sure you are using the XLIFF filetype for this? Can you share your source file for me to test? If you can please send it to pfilkin@sdl.com 
 
On the embedded content options... that would not be the way to ignore an element, and in any case the XLIFF filetype will not support parser rules for elements. Only source and target elements are extracted normally.

 I suggest you create a new thread as this one is already answered as you can see. And do the following: 
 
 advise the version of Studio you are using 
 advise the filetype you are using 
 share the parser rules you used if applicable 
 preferably provide a sample of the source file (delete everything apart from the content you have shown in here)
