No preview available displays in preview window for xml file despite seemingly valid xslt (Studio 2017 SP1)

Question

Hi, 
 I use the AnyXML file type in Studio and the embedded content processor to translate xliff files which come from WordPress. 
 I have created a stylesheet and tested it in an xml parser (libxml) and it generates the output I would expect. 
 However, when I try to view the preview in the Studio editor, all options are greyed out and the message 'No preview available' is displayed. 
 I would be grateful if anyone could take a look at the project and spot where I'm going wrong.

 (I am able to use the XML preview in another project which also uses the AnyXML settings but has a different structure. The project where the preview works does not contain a DTD).

Hi Daniel McCosh , 
 
I came across a similar problem last week (similar but different error message) and have provided those files and now yours to support for investigation. The stylesheet preview app also has a problem with them, and generates a better error message, so I'm wondering whether there has been a change in some microsoft component we use for preview perhaps... 
 
I'll come back to you when I find out more.

 I can't recall whether I mentioned this to you or not and can't find the email... so I think I didn't. The feedback I got on this is that the problem seems to be due to the document() function being used and it's blocked by default:

 enableDocumentFunction 
 Type: System.Boolean 
 true to enable support for the XSLT document() function; otherwise, false . 
 
 There is also a stackoverflow post about how to avoid using document() function in:

 The suggestion being that changing the transformation so it doesn't use the document() function should solve it. 
 Long story short though... there has been been no change in this area and currently no plans to change it either.
