SDL Trados Studio Numbering issue

Dears,

We are translating a mathematics content into Arabic and we have some numbers written with space separator like (1 000 000) and the client wants to keep this spaces as it is in Arabic translation.

While trying to translate these numbering format the numbers are flipping as per the below screenshot. Is there any way to keep the same numbers structure during translation into Arabic? Or, converted the numbers between text into tags to be locked and keep its structure?

Best Regards,

Samar

  • Hi samar magdy (samarmagdy) ,

I'm afraid your problem is that Studio is not recognising the source as one number. The thousands separator in US English is probably a comma and this is why you have this issue. So Studio seems them as groups of separate numbers which you can see by the blue underline as it's not consistent through the whole number. The result is that when going to Arabic the groups are reversed.

Two ways I see to handle this:

    1. Replace the source numbers with new ones without the spaces and replace in the target after the translation is complete using spaces
    2. Use the regex autosuggest provider to handle the number transformation as you work
