Locating Project File

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to find the file of my project so that I could upload it online. I found advice saying I should use the Advanced saving -option, but for some reason they are shown as gray and can't be clicked. Is there a reason for this, and if not, how can I locate the project file? Thanks!

  • Hi ,

Assuming this is Studio 2017 we're talking about, the default place Studio stores project folders is here:

    C:\Users\Username\Documents\Studio 2017\Projects

Copy and paste the above into either the Search bar next to your Windows Start button or into the Windows Explorer address bar, replacing 'Username' with your profile name... or click on 'Documents' under 'Quick Access' in Windows Explorer, then 'Studio 2017' then 'Projects' etc., and find the file/s that way.

    Also...

If it is a project that is in your project list in Studio, you can find it by right-clicking the project in the Projects view and selecting 'Open project folder' from the dropdown menu that appears. This opens the project in Windows Explorer.

Or you can right-click on a file in the files list and select 'Explore containing folder'.

The above 3 methods enable you to find the project or file/s via Windows Explorer.

You can also a copy of your file/s to another place on your computer by opening or highlighting the file/s in the Files view then going to 'File > Save Target as' then navigate to wherever you wish to save it.

The above is what I do, then I zip the file/s and return them by email/upload.

If your project came from a project package, you can also create what is called a 'return package' via 'Create return package' on the top toolbar in the Projects view or the Files view, with the relevant project/file highlighted.

There are lots of ways, just as there are lots of user preferences.

    All the best,

    Ali
