Unable to import a TMX file into a TRADOS TM

Question

Hi, 
 I created a wordfast translation memory with French as the source language and Arabic as the target language and subsequently exported the TM as a TMX file. I wish to import the TMX file into a SDL Trados Studio 2017 TM but it doesn&rsquo;t work : 
 
 When I try to open the TMX file with Trados I get the following error message : 
 
 How can I fix this issue ?

What variant of Arabic do you want? AR-AR is not a recognised variant as it says in the message, probably because Wordfast allowed you to use no variant and then exported it with AR-AR. I believe these would be your options, so just change the language code in the TMX to whatever you want and you'll hopefully be good to go. In case it helps, maybe one of these is what you are looking for?

As the error says, "AR-AR" is invalid culture identifier. In other words, WordFast TMX export is buggy since it puts invalid language code in the TMX. 
Use appropriate code from this document: sdl.ssl.cdn.sdlmedia.com/6845.pdf. 
HINT: Culture ID corresponding to generic Arabic ("ar") is "ar-SA"
