Failed to add window command bar exception error message after reinstalling SDL-Trados

Yesterday, I did an update on my software and now it's not working at all. I get an error message saying "Failed to add window command bar exceptions". I search for answers on the community, and found the following article: https://community.sdl.com/product-groups/translationproductivity/f/90/t/17427. I tried all three steps, and it still does not work at all.

I went and deactivated my licence to reinstall the software. I downloaded the software from my SDL account. I reinstalled the software. In the course of the installation, I get the message saying there is an update on my version, to which I have no choice to accept or cancel the process. So, I accepted it. Guess what? It does not work either. I open SDL Trados and still get the same message "Failed to add window command bar exceptions.

Any suggestions?

  • Paul, Can I ask another question? If I reinstall the software and my licence is not deactivated, it will not work, right?

My licence is installed on two different computers. As it stands now, I did the upgrade yesterday on Computer 1 (this is when the problems started), but Computer 2 stills works. From what I understand when I check my licence in my SDL account, I have two choices, deactivating one code (this does not work, because I get an error message), or return my licence, which I don't really want to do because I still can use Computer 2 and get by somehow with my business day.

What I did in last resort was desinstall SDL Studio Trados on Computer 1, downloaded a copy of the software from my SDL account, then reinstalled it. However, in the middle of the process, I was still forced to upgrade, and then in the end it did not work.

Here is the error message when I try to use the deactivation fonction: An error has occurred with your offline-deactivation. If you continue to have problems, Please log a support request.

What are my options now? I really do not want to be forced to reinstall the software on both computers, because I don't trust the upgrade.

    Thanks for your thoughts.
