We have a server licence that is shared. One one users PC the file type for Word 97-2000 is showing and in the other it is not which is resulting in not being able to save target files of this type - any suggestions on how to overcome this? I have tried adding in the file type but it hasn't worked.

I can see that you are using Studio 2017 - which I think is not the real issue here- but how the project is being created.
Before Studio can export to target- (assuming you have the original source document) you will have needed to ensure the settings in Studio were correct and that this file type was at the top of the (Word) list as follows-
If this was not the case you wont be able to save target.
Should this be the case, ensure the file type settings are correct, before creating a new project - then you can pre-translate via Batch Tasks and your previously populated TM.
Now you should be able to export without any problems.
