Optimum CPU for Studio 2017

I am getting a new PC, in large part to speed up Studio 2017 and Multiterm.

I will definitely be using M.2 SSD drive and 16 GB RAM.

However, I am wondering if using an up-to-the-minute AMD Ryzen or Intel Coffee Lake processor will make any difference to performance.

Is Studio configured as a multi-threaded application? If not are there any plans to implement this in the future?

Any thoughts welcome.

Andy

  • Haven't you tried to work in a newer version though? I do that since Studio exists and with only one exception it always worked well. The exception was Studio 2014 vs Studio 2011 (customer) and MIF files from Framemaker. Hoever, since then there hasn't been any slightest problem with working with a newer version than the customer has. I understand customer always ask for exactly the same version as they have, but this applies only in case you have to work with Group Share for example, where newer versions make sometimes problems. Otherwise I would just work in S2019 and forget the request...
