HTML Target File Does not include pictures

Question

I have a project where I translated three French HTML pages into English. When I generate the target texts, and click on the translated links, I can see the translated text, but the target text does not retain any of the images. When I copy and paste the images from the source files into the folder with the target files, the source files completely replace the target files, and the original French completely replaces my translated files. Please advise. How can SDL generate the target texts with the images? I have SDL Trados 2017.

This doesn't sound right to me. I can understand the images not being picked up because they will be found by the URI in the html file, but I don't understand how the target files themselves can be overwritten by the target files just by copying the images in there... unless you selected all and picked up the html source files as well by mistake?
