Hi Lise
You have to be signed in to reply.
If you are signed in, there will be an icon (avatar) on the top toolbar which will display your name on mouseover i.e. if you hover your cursor over it. Mine has my photo because I've loaded a photo to my profile:
If you're not signed in, there will be a plain head shaped icon next to 'join/log in' or something like that/the equivalent in your user language.
You have to click on the head shaped icon to sign in.
Once you have signed in, you can click on 'Reply' underneath the message/post.
Then a plain text box will open up into which you can type:
You type your post into the box then click 'Reply'.
You can tick the box 'Suggest as Answer' if you want to propose your reply as an answer to a question in the sense of presenting solution to a problem. If the original poster of the thread feels you've offered the solution to their problem/question, they and only they can tick a box to turn the orange line indicating it's a suggested answer into a green line that indicates it's a solution. The status of the post changes from 'Answer suggested' to 'Answered' (or something that means that).
A further point: If you want to add a link or image or other non-plaintext content to your post, you can click on 'Advanced Editing Options' as in green in the above image.
Then a box opens up with various extra features that allow you to add images, links, emoticons, font styles and other stuff. The easiest way is to use 'drag and drop'. When you've finished your text, you click 'Post'.
You can also go back into the message afterwards to edit it by clicking 'More' > 'Edit' underneath your post.
I hope this helps!
All the best
Ali

You have to be signed in to ask any question... not just reply ;-)
Nice answer though Ali, very explanatory. Thank you.

Unknown said:I presume it does that to all us non-SDL-employed users ;-)
Quite possibly a deliberate choice on our part to make our users lives a little more complex ;-)
Have a good one Ali!
