Error while creating a file based TM

Question

Hello Guys 
 I get an error when trying to create a new file based TM. We recently added a new language to our list and I got an export from our translator that I wanted to incorporate into our setup. So i decided to create a new File based Translation Memory. 
 As soon as i click on File > New > Translation Memory, i get an error titled "Data at root level is invalid. Line 1, Position 1" 
 Any thoughts?

Hi Aditya Mohan , 
 
I think it's worth trying a reset for this... I'm assuming Studio 2017 as you didn't mention which version. Rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio: 
 
c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0 
 
So the path would become this: 
 
c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0_old 
 
If you can't find this folder then you need to unhide your hidden files/folders: 
 
 www.howtogeek.com/.../ 
 
You could also use this app for the reset and this will also explain what you will lose by carrying out a reset before you do it: 
 
 appstore.sdl.com/.../

Hello Paul 
thank you for the assistance :) My apologies for skipping the version number, I'm using Trados Studio 2015. 
I was actually trying to shirk away from a reset, But i guess that is the only way out.
