SDL Community email addresses

I want to receive general emails from SDL at one email address and SDL Community emails at another email address.

I changed the email address in my SDL Community settings and clicked the save button, but the email address just changes back to the email address that I use for my SDL account.

Is there any way to get the email change to "stick" ?

  • Hi Bruce,

Unfortunately what you'd like to do is not possible because of the single-sign-on integration like explained.
You can only change your preferred email address in SDL ID, which will then be copied into the SDL Community.

The only possible option for now is to create a new SDL Community account with the other email address. After that account is created we can move all your previous community contributions to that account. You will have two accounts in SDL ID (oos.sdl.com) then.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Lennert,

Perhaps not the best approach as this is bound to lead to problems and confusion with all the other things that the OOS is used for.  Better to see if you can do something about the notifications possibility... or just remove it and imake it clear that it's not possible to have this split capability at all.

  • Hi Lennert and Paul,

I will use a filter rule to move the emails to another folder based on the "from" email address.

I made my original post because the email field was available, so I thought SDL actually wanted to provide this functionality and had just coded it incorrectly.

But I guess the functionality was available before and then broken when the single sign on was implemented.

None of the other users seem to care, so a filter rule will be fine. (I doubt SDL will spend time and money restoring broken functionality that no one seems to want ;-)
