redundat info on the translation interface

Question

hello all, 
 when uploading a file (Word/Xls) I'm getting the name of the owner of the file and other properties info in the first few lines? how do I get rid of that? 
 will appreciate any help

 edit: just wanted to state that I was not working on XLS file but on XLSX, probably hence the issues... sorry

Make sure your filetype settings are set to not extract "Document properties".

 When you open a file for translation Studio does it based on the seettings you have used in your filetype settings. You need to make these changes before you create a project or it's too late and they will have already been applied. You can find them in File -> Options -> File Types . For XLS you want this: 
 
 For Word, it will be something similar but note there are many Word filetypes so best to do them all if you're not sure which version of Word you are handling and never want these properties anyway.

Can you share a file with this information and explain which parts you want to omit? You are either not applying this correctly, the filetype is not what you think it is, or the information is not really coming from the document properties... or there is a bug! But rather than keep guessing can you share the file? You can email it to pfilkin@sdl.com if this is possible.

Just to close this off I think... 
 
- the XLS file was actually XLSX 
- the content was not coming from the document properties 
 
The solution was to not extract the name of the worksheet as Stephan mentioned I think, and to hide the first row of the Excel sheet as this is what was being extracted.
